LOVE, abbie
I'm so excited that you are interested in choosing me to document your family! I believe in capturing real moments of pure love. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in creating art that is itching to be printed, placed in beautiful frames, and hung on walls for years to come.
I've been a "maker" for as long as I can remember. I spent my entire childhood and adolescence at the ballet studio and when I wasn't dancing I was either painting, drawing, or sewing. I went on to graduate from art school with a degree in illustration and I worked as a graphic designer for several years. I love working with people and teaching ballet was my calling for over a decade.
My years in art school sparked an interest in photography but it wasn't until the birth of my daughter that I picked up a camera again. For me, photography is my opportunity to freeze time, to remember these precious days of childhood, and to create beautiful art that showcases the incredible love of our family.
You deserve to have your precious memories preserved in beautiful artwork that graces the walls of your home and is treasured forever. I would be so honored to help you tell your story. Take a look around. If you like what you see here, you're going to love your photos.
GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Your experience begins with a conversation. After photographing many, many families, I've learned that the best sessions are the ones where we take the time go get to know each other. I want to hear everything - what makes your kids laugh, who might be shy, and what you and your spouse love most about each other.
We’ll talk about the details of your day and I'll answer any questions you might have. Can you imagine the magic we will create together?
I take great care when selecting locations for your session. When I choose a location I consider the season, time of day, parking, and more. I'm proud to have locations all over Chicagoland including: Schaumburg, Naperville, Wheaton, Bartlett, and Barrington. I'm also delighted to offer sessions at The Morton Arboretum, of which I'm a member, for an additional location fee. Newborn sessions take place in-studio in Wicker Park or Homer Glen.
Once we begin planning your session, we will discuss time of day and which locations are closest to you. The most important thing is to choose where you're going to have ice cream after our time together!
If picking out outfits for photos takes you back to your high school days when you literally tried on everything in your closet and piled it on your bed but still felt like you had nothing to wear, you're in luck.
I have an extensive style guide and client closet dresses which you will have access to upon booking with me. I also am happy to provide wardrobe guidance over e-mail or a phone call. I have so many options for you and none of them will break the bank.
On the day of your session, we'll connect to make sure the weather still looks like it's going to corporate. We'll exchange numbers and finalize our meeting location. Please plan for your session to take about an hour to 90 minutes from start to finish.
All images from our sessions are typically delivered within about two weeks of the shoot date via an online gallery. This gallery will allow you to share your favorites with family, order prints and even download images to share on social media.
Your gallery will remain active for six weeks.
I am proud to offer our clients a variety of ways to turn their images into keepsakes. Wall-mounted canvas prints to decorate your home, beautiful albums, boxes and more.
Wall art such as prints and canvases are easily ordered through your client gallery. I'm happy to do the heavy lifting for cards, framed prints, keepsake boxes, and albums. You're going to love the beautiful products offered!

What you're going to do with your images is perhaps the most important aspect to consider when you're planning for a photo session, but it's all too often the aspect that's overlooked... all that time and money invested deserve a better return than photos gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere. You'll never get the same feeling looking at your photos on a screen as you will seeing them on your wall or flipping through the pages of an album, so I include a substantial print credit with every collection. Below is a sample of some of the items you can choose from.

PINTEREST BOARDS
If you're looking for a little more outfit inspiration, I recommend heading over to my Pinterest boards to browse outfit ideas for the entire family.
PINTEREST BOARDS
With the growth of online shops, shopping for your littles is more fun than ever! I recommend choosing color families (neutrals, pale blues, etc) over perfectly matching outfits. If you're looking for some inspiration or some of our favorite shops for kids, check out the link to my Pinterest boards below!
When picking outfits I recommend keeping in mind the word “complement” rather than “match.” For example, if Dad is wearing a blue pastel shirt, Mom may want to choose a long, soft neutral dress. It can also be a great idea to choose “color-families,” such as soft pastels or light neutrals.
A SNEAK PEEK FROM MY FULL STYLE GUIDE
Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel a little shy in front of the camera. I know what it's like to feel like a deer in the headlights during photos and I assure you with my gentle direction, fun prompts, and tricks to flatter, you're going to feel great during your session. No more awkward family photos. That's a promise.
You're going to feel hesitant at first, but as the session goes on and I coach you through images, I think you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun. And don't worry about your kids. I'm well versed in capturing even the busiest of little ones.
Pro tip: don't discipline your kids during your session. I'm not here to tell you how to parent, but your kids will likely be more cooperative during your session!
The sooner the better! My weekends tend to fill up pretty quickly - especially during the spring and fall, so the sooner you reach out to me, the more likely you are to get
your desired date!
To reserve your date, I'll need a contract as well as a deposit. And if something comes up and you need to change your date, just let me know!
No one wants to get dressed up just to stand in the rain. If it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, I'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule. Rarely, if it's not raining, but it's too overcast outside, we will find another date.
Within a few weeks of your session, you'll receive a link to a digital gallery that will allow you to download high resolution images.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format.
